Expected outcomes of the TruFire Youth Program will range across many possibilities. Each participant will gain experience based on their monthly attendance, interaction with instructors and fellow participants, and their motivation to learn the concepts being taught each month. Here are some of the elements of positive youth development our instructors will implement during sessions while engaging with participants:

Express Care:

Show youth that they matter to the instructors. Our instructors are warm, encouraging, dependable, and someone the youth can trust. Believing in the youth by making them feel known and valued.

Challenge Growth:

Instructors will expect youth to live up to their potential. We will nudge them to improve. Youth will be held accountable for their actions. We will help them learn from mistakes and setbacks in a positive way.

Provide Support:

We want youth to learn independence and responsibility in life, not just with firearms. Instructors will empower participants to build confidence in themselves with attainable goals. By setting limits and goals, our instructors will help youth learn discipline and focus. They will be learning life skills that will extend beyond the range and learn to advocate for themselves in all areas of their lives.

Share Power:

Our instructors recognize the importance of youth having opportunities to become leaders. Participants will be included in decision-making and problem-solving situations to help them achieve goals relevant to the youth. Opportunities will be created intentionally that allow them to make their own decisions. This will not compromise safety but allow them the chance to think for themselves.

Expand Possibilities:

Our network of experts in various areas of interest will be brought in as guest speakers. This will build a framework for positive interactions and offer a means to accomplish many life goals. We will help guide and inspire participants to see the many possibilities for their future as they learn to make connections that broaden their world.
