NRA BIT/ BASIC PISTOL INSTRUCTOR TRAINING

Want to be certified?

CLASS DESCRIPTION

NRA Certified Instructors are individuals who are 21 years old or older and are otherwise fully qualified to conduct NRA Basic Firearm Training Courses. Certified instructor ratings are available in twelve disciplines.

NRA Instructor Training Courses consist of two parts. Part one, “Basic Instructor Training (mandatory),” is common to all instructor training courses, and lasts six hours. This course is taken one time for all disciplines.  Part two is discipline-specific for NRA Basic Pistol Instructor, and lasts an additional 10 hours.

Candidates must understand that the NRA Instructor Training Courses are not designed to teach shooting skills, or to prepare candidates to teach courses other than those of the NRA Basic Firearm Training Program. The NRA Instructor courses take experienced shooters and teach them to “teach” shooting using the NRA methodology and standards. The NRA certification provides them with credibility for the skills they have acquired throughout their own life experiences.

Instructor candidates must attend all 2 days to be certified.

The new NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting

Description: The NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting is a two-part course consisting of an e-learning portion, Phase I (completed online-in your own time frame) at www.nraonlinetraining.org and a hands-on practical portion, Phase II conducted at a range under the guidance and supervision of an NRA-Certified Instructor. The course is intended for all adults regardless of previous shooting experience or NRA-affiliation. Some of the topics in the course include: gun safety rules, proper operation of revolvers and semi-automatic pistols, ammunition knowledge and selection, selecting and storing a pistol, the fundamentals of shooting, and pistol inspection and maintenance. When you enroll in the online course, you create a personal identification number (PIN). When you successfully complete the course, printing your certificate activates that PIN. You have 60 days to enroll in a Phase II Instructor Led session.  After completion of the e-learning portion go to www.centennialgunclub.com – Hover over the training tab– select Classes-Handgun Training Section-select NRA Basics Pistol – and register. Bring your certificate and PIN number with you to class. During the instructor-led-training portion of the course, an NRA Certified Instructor will validate comprehension and application of gun safety rules; range protocol; proper handling; loading and unloading procedures; application of pistol shooting fundamentals; stable shooting positions; live fire; and a final shooting qualification.
